The Westminster United Church congregation struggled to follow amplified speech in its sanctuary. OCTAV Acoustics completed acoustical measurements and evaluated the loudspeaker system, confirming that the sanctuary’s natural reverberation — an asset to its organ and choir — was working against speech. The remediation plan redeploys the loudspeakers for better direct coverage and adds modest acoustical treatment, improving intelligibility without sacrificing the richness that choral and organ music depends on.
