When Connexus Church converted a commercial building into their Orillia Campus, the
building needed more than a stage and a pair of speakers. Worship, teaching, youth programming and
children’s ministry all had to work in the same facility — run week to week by volunteers, not
engineers. OCTAV designed and delivered a facility-wide audio, video and lighting platform that
connects every space, and tailored the controls so each room only shows the people using it what
they actually need.
OCTAV also provided the acoustical consulting for the Orillia
Campus — sound isolation for the noise-sensitive spaces, mechanical noise and vibration control,
and the acoustic design of the main sanctuary. Designing the room and the system together is what
keeps a church sounding intentional rather than improvised.
Audio
The auditorium is covered by professionally modeled line arrays with flown subwoofers — modeled
before installation so coverage is predicted rather than guessed. The platform runs on digital audio
mixing, with wireless microphone systems and personal monitoring for the worship team.
Video
A 16-foot projection screen is driven by an ultra short throw projector, fed by professional video
switching. Building-wide audio and video distribution over a dedicated AV network lets content move
seamlessly through the church — so the message reaches the lobby, the youth space and the children’s
rooms, not just the people in the auditorium.
Lighting
Integrated lighting systems serve the auditorium along with the youth and children’s spaces,
tying the facility’s look together across very different room types and age groups.
Control that volunteers can actually run
Customized control interfaces simplify operation by giving each space controls tailored to its
specific functions. A volunteer in the children’s wing sees the handful of controls that room needs —
not the full auditorium console. This is the difference between a system a church owns and a system
that owns the church.
