AV Systems Designer

Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Audio-Visual Systems Designer to join our growing team. In this role, you will create, design, and integrate advanced AV systems for diverse commercial spaces. You will work closely with architects, engineers, and clients to ensure seamless AV integration from concept to execution.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design AV Systems: Develop customized AV system designs for performance venues, studios, offices, houses of worship, and other commercial spaces.
  • Create Drawings: Prepare detailed technical AV drawings including system layouts, conduit riser diagrams, cable schedules, and shop drawings.
  • Collaborate: Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth integration of AV systems with architectural, mechanical, and electrical components.
  • Project Management: Manage RFIs, design documentation, and work closely with the sales team to create bills of materials, scope of work, and budgets.
  • Client Engagement: Participate in pre-sales presentations, site surveys, and client meetings, providing technical expertise and explaining complex AV concepts.
  • Integration Support: Assist in the successful integration of AV systems during the build phase, ensuring the design works seamlessly with the installation and control system setup.
  • Ongoing Learning: Stay up-to-date with emerging AV technologies and industry trends.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in the AV industry, preferably in an AV design role.
  • Software Proficiency: Expertise in Revit and SketchUp is required. Experience with AutoCAD, Vectorworks, or other CAD software is a plus.
  • Industry Certifications: AVIXA CTS-D certification preferred. Familiarity with QSYS and other AV software (EASE, Dante, Smaart) is a plus.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to clients, architects, and engineers.
  • Education: A background in engineering, architectural technology, acoustics, IT, or related fields is an asset.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with AV networking and industry best practices.

AV Operations Lead

Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled AV Operations Lead to join our expanding team. In this role, you will play a key leadership position in managing project logistics, coordinating design, installation, and support phases, and ensuring smooth project execution from start to finish. This is an excellent opportunity to lead diverse projects, manage teams, and contribute to our growth.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Execution: Serve as the primary point of contact for coordinating and implementing all aspects of project execution, including site surveys, engineering, fabrication, installation, testing, troubleshooting, programming, commissioning, and training.
  • Project Administration: Oversee project budgets, planning, purchasing, scheduling, time sheets, expenses, field reports, RFIs, change orders, and punch lists using our ERP software.
  • Asset & Logistics Management: Manage company assets, logistics, and inventory related to on-site projects.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage the installation team and subcontractors, coordinating with other trades as needed.
  • Quality Control: Ensure the quality and accuracy of AV system and acoustic equipment/material installation.
  • Technical Support: Manage remote and on-site technical support and preventative maintenance services.
  • Customer Relationships: Develop and maintain strong customer relationships, fostering a culture of service quality, on-time delivery, problem-solving, and responsiveness.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously refine and improve operational standards and processes to enhance quality and efficiency.
  • Project Close-Out: Assist in project close-out documentation, training, and handover.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Diploma or degree in project management, construction management, audio-visual technology, architectural/construction technology, IT, or a related field.
  • Experience: Strong understanding of general contracting, electrical trades, and construction. Ability to read and interpret architectural, engineering, and AV system drawings.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with installed AV systems, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
  • Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Certifications: CTS or CTS-I certification is desired. MOL Working at Heights certification is a plus.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work at heights and perform on-site tasks. Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required for travel within the GTA and occasionally outside the GTA.
