Burn Boot Camp is a fitness studio located in a multi-unit commercial building with adjacent noise sensitive tenants. OCTAV was engaged during the design phase of the project to assess the existing (base building) sound isolation between the studio and adjacent units and provide acoustical design input to the architect to improve the sound isolation. Our team completed a review of the existing construction as well as Apparent Sound Transmission Class tests to quantify the acoustical performance of the existing building assemblies. Based on the test data, recommendations were provided to the architect to improve the sound isolation of the assemblies so that Burn Boot Camp could operate without disturbing their neighbours.
